I want to report misconduct
- Students, faculty, staff and members of the general public may report alleged misconduct by students via our public reporting tool. However, we encourage you to contact us at 517-884-0789 or conduct@msu.edu prior to submitting a report to fully understand the process.
- Faculty may report alleged academic misconduct by students via our public reporting tool. Please include all relevant facts in the description. You will also be able to upload documents into the report.
- Anyone who becomes aware of any student organization conduct violation, including but not limited to hazing, is encouraged to immediately report the incident, including all observed or learned details. Reporting options include the following:

- Any incident involving a crime, an emergency, or imminent threat to the health or safety of any person should be reported immediately to the police.

Those impacted by organization misconduct, including hazing, may choose to report to law enforcement, to the university, to both or to neither as the individual may choose. Employees designated as Campus Security Authorities (CSAs) under the Clery Act may have additional reporting responsibilities. Under the Mandatory Reporting for Relationship Violence, Sexual Misconduct and Stalking Policy, university employees and volunteers, as defined under the policy, may also have reporting requirements.

I have a role in the process
Complainant
A reporting party or member (of a group) of the university community who initiates proceedings against another member (or group) of the MSU community. Learn more about the complainant role by downloading the Process Guide for Complainants in the Individual Student Conduct Process.
Respondent
An individual or group against whom a complaint is filed alleging violation of one or more regulations/policies.

Witness
An advisor is any individual chosen by a party to advise, support and/or consult with throughout case proceedings.
Either the complainant or respondent may have an individual serve as their advisor throughout case proceedings. Each party is responsible for identifying their advisor prior to meetings, communicating meeting dates/times/locations with their advisor and ensuring any necessary documentation such as a FERPA waiver for information release is on file prior to any meetings.

Advisor
