Student Organization Conduct Appeals

Appeals are submitted in writing to the director of the Office of Student Support & Accountability (or designee) within five (5) class days after the decision has been sent. Appeals must be emailed to ossa.soconduct@msu.edu

The appeal must be on the basis of one or more of the below: 

  • the information presented does not support the decision reached, 
  • the information presented does not support the sanction imposed and/or 
  • the procedures described in the Student Organization Conduct Policies and Procedures for adjudicating the case were not followed.

Any sanctions issued will not go into effect while the appeal is pending.

On appeal, the decision may be: 

  • affirmed (upheld), 
  • reversed, 
  • remanded back with instructions for further investigation or 
  • modified as deemed appropriate by the appeal officer.
