Witness Role in Conduct Process

Witness

A witness is an individual, commonly a member of the university community, who observes an event, situation or occurrence and can provide firsthand ifnromation regarding the concern/issues.

For cases which advance to a hearing, both the complainant and respondent may have witness(es) as appropriate. Witnesses should have direct knowledge of the behavior(s) being discussed at a hearing. Each party is responsible for identifying their witness(es) prior to hearings, communicating the hearing date/time/location with their witness(es) and ensuring any witnesses submitting written statements do so within established timelines prior to the hearing occurring.
