Individual Conduct Appeals

Reasons for Appeal 

Both parties may appeal the decision of the hearing administrator/hearing board on the following bases:

  • There was a procedural error.
  • There was a conflict of interest on the part of the hearing administrator/hearing board. 

The respondent may also appeal on the following bases:

  • The information presented at the hearing did not support the decision reached by the hearing administrator/hearing board.
  • The sanction(s) are not commensurate with the seriousness of the offense. 

University Student Appeals Board

Appeals are reviewed by the University Student Appeals Board, which can: 

  • Request additional information if needed; 
  • Reject the appeal for lack of jurisdiction; 
  • Affirm or reverse the original decision; or 
  • Direct the hearing body to rehear the case or clarify its decision.

All decisions of the University Student Appeals Board are final.
