Conflict Resolution Overview

Conflict Resolution Vision

At Michigan State University, we envision an institution where every Spartan has the opportunity to belong authentically, engage responsibly, thrive through accountability and healing, and lead with integrity. Through restorative practices, we strive to build a community where conflict becomes an opportunity for learning, relationships are strengthened, and harm is addressed in ways that promote repair, growth, and shared responsibility.

Conflict Resolution Mission

The Office of Student Support & Accountability is committed to fostering a campus community where students learn to navigate conflict with empathy, accountability, and respect. Through restorative practices, we create opportunities for students to share their experiences, repair relationships when appropriate, and strengthen our community.

Our work supports the Student Affairs commitments by helping students:

  • Belong by creating spaces where every community member feels heard, valued, and respected.
  • Engage by encouraging meaningful dialogue, active participation, and shared responsibility within the MSU community.
  • Thrive by promoting personal growth, healing, accountability, and the development of skills that support lifelong well-being.
  • Lead by empowering students to make ethical decisions, repair harm, and contribute positively to their organizations, communities, and future endeavors.
